DL: Music City, Huntsvegas, ATL, & Chatt-Town (Part 2)

...back. So where was I, oh, Chattanooga was swell. Me and Damien played out on the patio. Usually I always say no whenever Starbucks gives the patio pitch "Hey, we thought I'd be a nice fit for you to play on the patio, nice weather...", uh, yea so I can get car horn sound effects and barking dogs all set...I'll pass. But this was away from traffic and a big patio, so it worked perfectly. Me and Damien were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO tired for that show though. I had been driving four days and we both got little sleep cuz we were making "LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IN THIS CLUB!" the night before. Plus I played an earlier show at the Chattanooga Market where I felt like Prince b/c it started pouring down raining towards the end of the set. Classic moment, white people listen to a black guy in the rain, i can dig it. Anywho...pics please...

DL: Music City, Huntsvegas, ATL, & Chatt-Town

Back in Nashville. 9:30pm, about to head to Damien's birthday bash and mail off an EP purchase someone made earlier today (A. Turner from Indiana...i know u by name). Nashville Starbucks show was bananas! Standing room only shows are the best, and I felt the love and yes, I even felt like a slight celebrity. Could say alot but i'll let the pics (taken by my good friend from Kentucky who doesn't read blogs so will probably never read this) do all the talkin'. And it's alot so I'll post them in the morning.

Huntsville was great, nice attendance. Atlanta was crazy! Standing room again, and this big FLAMING gay guy with all white on walked right across the front row to get some coffee right in the middle of S.O.S. i believe the song was. Everybody's eyes got wide as he walked back through (he was a customer obviously, not a fan...although I'm an all-gender accepting artist, ha)...and everybody looked at me to get my reaction! Needless to say it was a moment. Later that night we went to a ATL club and "MADE LOOOOOVE IN THIS CLUB, IN THIS CLUB, IN THIS CLUB..."...or maybe just made fun of everybody else but who cares it was a ATL good time (thanks to the lovely ladies who helped us get in;)

headed out, be back soon to finish...

DL: MusicCityUnsigned.com

Hey guys. It's a sad time in history when anybody named Bozo The Clown dies. But let's not dwell on his death but the fact that if I had been on The Bozo Show I would've gotten the 6th bucket, HANDS DOWN!! But I digress... Rest in Peace Bozo, my dog. So this past Sunday I played Indianapolis, IN and wrote the blog on www.MusicCityUnsigned.com because they ROCK! It should be up right now in their blog section, check it out!

DL: Live From Newport/Cincinnati, OH

Saturday, the day after we won our freedom. What really happened the day after we won our freedom? Textbooks never say the Americans won their freedom from Britian and the next day they all woke up with hangovers. It never says that now does it! I digress...last night in Cincinnati (techinically Newport, KY-across the bridge) was good. About 15 people solid sitting listening fans, and sold a good amount of merch (thanks to Brian and Ryan-"merch helpers unite"). But that doesn't qualify as a good show for me as much as actually playing a good show, which I feel I did. I was by myself which kinda made things run alot smoother honestly. Don't know, guess I'm just used to being by myself (only child syndrome) so I'm alot calmer. Even my jokes went over...mostly. Leaving for Columbus,OH (2 hours away) shortly...hope to pull another hat out the rabbit.

Holla,
DL

DL: Try, try, try again...

He who gives in first loses. Nobody wants to be labeled a quitter. Sure I may have thought about it just b/c I could, but no, I'm not gonna stop b/c Memphis bombed. It's 4th of July weekend...speaking of which fellow artists touring out there, or simply doing a show of any kind, remember this word of advice: There will ALWAYS be something going on! Whether it's "Hey man, I was coming but had to put the kids to bed and..." or "Hey man, do you know that Biz Makrie is in town the same night as your show, sorry bro" or my favorite "You know college is out for the summer right?" But I digress...

I'm headed to Cincinnati (never played), Columbus, OH (never played), and Indianapolis, IN (never ever played). Great odds right, why am I doing this again...am I walking into a self-made boobie trap! Who knows. I've been practicing, which is what I do after I've soaked in my sorrows for a day or so. I come back like Ali (Louisville reference)...with sweat short (cut off sweatpants), a wife beater (can't beat what you don't have), and the same dam* shoes I wear every else cuz who can afford "play shoes" at a time like this. My bass player got a gig at B.B. Kings so therefore I'm riding solo this weekend. I was gonna get a friend to go but then I decided this weekend alone might be good for me. So up north I go...we shall meet if we meet.

DL: John Mayer & Happiness

Last night I went to a small movie theater in Bellevue, TN to see the live theater version of John Mayer's "Where The Light Is" live concert. I wanted to get up and leave after the first 5 minutes. Not b/c it sucked, but b/c I was immediately inspired. If I was at home about now is when I would've paused the DVD and ran over to the piano or loop station, never going back to actually watch the whole thing until about a week later. But I paid $9.00 so I wasn't about to leave. If you like john, it's a good buy.

Non-Music Related:
Enough with music already (I'm too emotional about it all), let's talk about somethin else. A guy did some research and concluded that the US is the 16th happiest country in the world based on surveys from 350,000 people in each country. And that's an increase. We are the most powerful, most influential, and the richest, but we're still not happy. Who is...Denmark is considered the happiest, and sadly Zimbabwe is the glummest. Let's pray for Zimbabwe and in the meantime, try and where a smile sometimes (that includes you Darnell!). Here's the full little article.

today's sunny in nashville, see u at the park kiddos.

p.s. I know, i know...new pics coming asap, promise!
